WHO CAN BE A MEMBER?

Anyone at least 15 years of age can join the LP. Members need not be holding any public office; indeed, many LP members are simple men and women from all walks of life who believe in the Party’s Vision, Mission and Platform of Government working in their own small way to make the Philippines a better place to live in.

The LP has an active youth arm, the Kabataang Liberal ng Pilipinas (KALIPI). All Party members below 35 years automatically become members of Kalipi. It is considered as one of the largest and most active political youth organizations in the country with chapters nationwide from barangays to provincial boards to schools.

HOW DOES ONE BECOME A MEMBER?

Formal membership in the LP begins by taking the Basic Orientation on Liberal Democracy (BOLD). This is a seminar that involves talks on the national situatoin, a presentation on the Party's program of government and history, and (most importantly) a discussion on the Liberal Democratic Ideology. In the KALIPI version of the BOLD, there is also a youth situationer.

Although a prerequisite, attending the BOLD does not automatically make one a Liberal. It is up to the person to decide whether he or she will take that final step and take his or her Oath as a Liberal. Indeed, there are several BOLD attendees who have begged off from taking the Oath, usually because these persons have not yet fully decided whether to participate fully with a political party. Such a decision is respected by the LP.
