ROXAS GETS BACKING OF NORTHERN ALLIANCE BLOC, 2 CITY MAYORS

The Northern Alliance of the House of Representatives and two mayors from key cities in Visayas and Mindanao have thrown their solid support for the vice- presidential bid of Liberal Party survey frontrunner Senator Mar Roxas as they expressed confidence on his capability to move the country forward.

The Northern Alliance of six congressmen includes House Deputy Speaker for Northern Luzon and Ilocos Sur 2nd District Rep. Eric Singson, Pangasinan 6th district Rep. Conrado Estrella III, Rep. Robert Raymund “Eskimo” Estrella of the  Abono party list, Benguet lone district Rep. Samuel Dangwa, Rep. Jose Ping-ay of the Cooperative-National Confederation of Cooperatives (COOP-NATCO) and Rep. Ernesto Pablo of the Association of Philippine Electric Cooperative (APEC) party list.

The latest Roxas supporters also included Mayor Celso Lobregat of Zamboanga City and Mayor Alfredo Marañon of Sagay City, Negros Occidental.

The endorsement of the six lawmakers and the two city mayors are the latest addition to a growing list of reform advocates who are actively pushing for the candidacy of Roxas, whose campaign is anchored on an upright and corruption-free government.

The lawmakers from Northern Luzon said that among the vice presidential candidates, they believe it is Roxas who can look after the welfare of Ilocanos and ensure the development of the region’s tourism and agriculture sectors, help facilitate the creation of export processing zones and revive the botched North Luzon Expressway extension.

Mayor Marañon said the Liberal Party vice presidential candidate had committed to help improve the agricultural production of Sagay City and build up the coastal towns of Negros Occidental and generate more jobs for the residents.

Mayor Lobregat, on the other hand, said Roxas had promised to help further boost the economy of Zamboanga peninsula.
