LP TO VILLAR, ERMITA: “DID YOU MEET TO DISCUSS POLL PLANS?”
FEARS ARMM WILL AGAIN BE USED FOR POLL FRAUD TO FAVOR VILLAROYO
Liberal Party Director General Chito Gascon today called on Nacionalista bet Manuel B. Villar and former Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita to reveal to the public what they talked about in a supposed meeting last month.
Gascon said the Liberal Party is alarmed by SMS messages being disseminated to the public in relation to the supposed plan to forge ballots in the Autonomous Region for Muslim Mindanao, where the administration has dominated—albeit questionably—in the 2004 and 2007 national elections.
“Laging sinasabi ni Villaroyo na ‘never’ siyang nakipagkita kay Madam Gloria o kaninuman sa administrasyon, kasi OPO-sisyon daw siya (Villaroyo has said claimed time and time again that he has ‘never’ met with Madam Gloria or anybody in the administration. Supposedly, they are ‘OPO-sisyon’),” Gascon said.
“Kaya ang tanong namin ngayon sa kanya at kay Sec. Ermita – totoo ba na nag-pulong sila nitong Pebrero? At sa usapan bang iyan, kasama ba ang kanilang mga plano sa darating na halalan? (We ask him and Sec. Ermita now – is it true that they met up last February? And in their huddle, did they talk about plans for the upcoming elections?),” he asked.
Gascon said that he received the following SMS message recently: “Manny Villar met with Eduardo Ermita last month at UCC Corinthian Hills in QC to finalize the plan to forge 4m ballots in ARMM. Jess Dureza will oversee the operations to give Villar a landslide victory in ARMM just like GMA’s sweep in 2004 and Team Unity’s victory in 2007. Pls pass the people will know.”
Ermita, who is vying for a congressional seat in Batangas, resigned as Executive Secretary on February 25 after the Supreme Court ruled that appointive officials running for election are deemed resigned. Jesus “Jess” Dureza has been serving as presidential adviser on Mindanao and has recently been sworn-in as the chair of the newly-created Mindanao Development Authority. UCC Coffee is known as a chain of posh coffee shops, with one of its branches in Corinthian Hills
“Kung gusto lang naming manira lang, ipapakalat lang namin nang ipapakalat ang mga text na ito. Pero nais naming malaman ang katotohanan, kaya dapat sagutin ni Villaroyo ang alegasyong ito (If we only wish to destroy reputations, then we’ll just go on and pass this text message around. But we want to know the truth, and thus Villaroyo should answer this allegation),” he said.
“Nakakapangilabot na ang mga kumakalat na balita, na para bang hinuhulma ang kaisipan ng publiko na talagang may mangyayaring dayaan. Kaming mga Liberal, patuloy na babantayan ang ating demokrasya (These news spreading around send a chilling effect, as if making people believe that there really will be cheating. We Liberals will continue to be vigilant for the sake of our democracy),” he added.
