Rep. Fredenil Castro
2nd District, Capiz

CONGRESSMAN Fredenil H. Castro ran unopposed and won his re-election for a third term to represent the second congressional district of Capiz that comprises ten towns located in the central and western parts of the province bordering Aklan.

A product of San Beda College of Law, he was an active corporate lawyer before embarking on a political career in 2001 when he was elected in the 12th Congress and a second term in 2004 for the 13th Congress.

With his recent victory that completes his full term, Castro dominates the second district of Capiz today which had long been the political stronghold of the late two-time House Speaker Cornelio Villareal. He had been Vice Chairman for the Committee on Basic Education and Culture as well as a member of the majority in various other legislative committees such as Rules, Appropriations, Constitutional Amendments and National Defense and Security. Now a senior member of the House
that is presently comprised of many neophyte congressmen, constituents of the 2nd District of Capiz eagerly await a wider role he will assume.

Coming from Dumalag town in Capiz, he has introduced legislation of local application that had directly benefited the ten towns of his district such as the construction of various infrastructure projects, creation of municipal trial courts, and educational support programs, among others.
