HON. MANUEL MAMBA
3rd District, Cagayan

STARTING his public service career as a physician before entering politics in 1987, Congressman Manny Mamba is well loved by the people of Cagayan. He is a multi-awarded public servant, having won the“Parangal sa mga Mararangal” which was conferred to him by Catholic Church leaders for his consistent and successful fight against illegal gambling in his hometown Tuao and eventually covering the entire Third District of Cagayan.

Having witnessed how the illegal numbers game jueteng had been eroding the work ethics and moral values of the people in his area, Mamba took a bold stand against gambling and tapped the support of the private sector.

Believing that it had to be the people themselves who must say “no to gambling,” he organized non-government organizations, the media, private individuals and religious groups to join him in his advocacies. As a result, these groups spearheaded activities against gambling, graft and corruption, and the notorious “lagay”
system.

In May, Mamba won against Tuguegarao Mayor Randolph Ting amidst charges of rampant cheating and vote buying activities by his political opponents. He is now on his third
term as a member of the House of Representatives.
