FRANCIS "Kiko" PANGILINAN


SENATOR Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan, chairman of the Liberal Party, is the youngest to become the Senate Majority leader since 1937. He is acknowledged as one of the most hardworking and most
productive senators.

He started in politics as the youngest councilor of the Fourth District of Quezon City in 1988. In 1992, he founded the National Movement of Young Legislators (NMYL), an organization of young legislators across the country that advocates strategic development for local gover-nance.

Sen. Kiko is a former student leader. He was elected Chairman of the UP Diliman Student Council in 1986. He was also elected Chairman of the College of Arts and Letters Student Council in 1985 under SAMASA (Sandigan Para sa Mag –aaral at Sambayanan). It was the first student regent after the Martial Law.

Kiko is passionate about strengthening the Filipino family, empo-wering the youth, revitalizing the judicial system, promoting respect for human rights and working for an accountable and responsive government. From student leader to senator, his vision of a new leadership has not wavered and he continues to encourage Filipinos to be active, to take a stand and participate and to inspire them so that they too can lead and work towards a better Philippines.
