Gov. Niel Tupas, Sr.
Province of Iloilo

WITH an unprecedented margin of 206,000 votes over his opponent in the May 14, 2007 elections, Iloilo Governor Niel D. Tupas, Sr. erased doubts about who the real leader in the eyes of Ilonggos is. Tupas won in all five districts, a first- time achievement in the local elections in Iloilo.

For Governor Tupas, his huge landslide victory is a big political statement made by the voting Ilonggos, even vindicating him from the false accusations thrown by his detractors.

Before he became governor of Iloilo, he first served as a mayor of municipality of Barotac Viejo for six years, after which he became a representative of Batasang Pambansa for six years before being elected as representative of
the 5th District from 1987 to 1998.
